The current day Forestal Mimosa Limited was incorporated on 5th February 1926 but can trace its roots back to 1906 and The Forestal Land, Timber and Railway Company.

It has been successfully serving the mimosa wattle extract producers and its Principals in eastern and southern Africa for over 80 years.

Mimosa vegetable tanning extracts are derived from the bark of the Black Wattle tree (Acacia mearnsii), a tree native to Australia.

In Africa it is grown mostly in plantation form and is managed on a renewable and sustainable basis.
